About this selection:
Nestled at 1,800 meters between two mountains in La Libertad, Huehuetenango, Finca La Bolsa benefits from a stable, humid microclimate and limestone-rich soils that give its coffee a unique aromatic profile.
Founded in 1958 by Jorge Vides, a doctor and coffee enthusiast, the finca was established on previously unused land. Today, it continues a sustainable and respectful approach to coffee cultivation.
The coffee is processed using the washed method: the cherries ferment for 18 to 24 hours, are washed, then soaked overnight. This Bourbon and Caturra lot reveals tasting notes of milk chocolate, a biscuity sweetness, and subtle hints of red fruit — an ideal companion for warm holiday moments. 🎄☕
Rainforest Alliance-certified and compliant with C.A.F.E. Practices, La Bolsa stands out for its social and environmental commitment. In partnership with Coffee Care, the farm has built a school and a daycare for workers’ children, complete with a food program encouraging school attendance. As a result, no children work on the farm, and classrooms are full.
Employees have access to fully equipped housing, and the finca actively preserves biodiversity: protected areas, Inga trees for shade and soil fertility, and innovative red worm composting to naturally enrich the land.
A coffee that combines quality, sustainability, and humanity — the very essence of the Christmas spirit.
Our tips for enjoying this coffee:
This coffee is wonderfully versatile, ideal for both filter and espresso brewing. Its naturally rich, creamy, and rounded body, along with low acidity, makes it a perfect choice for a balanced and smooth espresso, while its roast allows the subtle nuances to shine through when prepared using brewing methods.
This coffee truly offers the best of both worlds.
